Each participant requiring mealtime management receives meals that are nutritious, and of a texture that is appropriate to their individual needs, and appropriately planned, and prepared in an environment and manner that meets their individual needs and preferences, and delivered in a way that is appropriate to their individual needs and ensures that the meals are enjoyable.

Golden Wattle Care Perth Pty Ltd will identify participants who require mealtime management during intake through discussions and the use of tools such as the Nutrition and Swallowing Risk Checklist.
Where risks are identified, participants will be referred to appropriately qualified health practitioners, such as speech pathologists, to assess nutrition, swallowing, and seating or positioning requirements and develop a Mealtime Management Plan.
With participant consent, including through the Mealtime Management Consent Form, individuals will be involved in the assessment and planning process. Mealtime Management Plans will outline specific requirements for eating and drinking, including strategies to manage risks such as dysphagia, allergies, diabetes, or other health conditions, and will be reviewed in line with professional advice or when changes in needs are identified.
The director demonstrated understanding of the IDDSI Framework and its application in preparing texture-modified foods and fluids. Workers will be trained to follow Mealtime Management Plans, including preparing food and fluids to the correct texture as outlined in the plan, recognising signs of difficulty such as choking or coughing, and understanding the steps to take in response to mealtime incidents.
