All workers responsible for administering medication understand the effects and side-effects of the medication and the steps to take in the event of an incident involving medication.

All medications are stored safely and securely, can be easily identified and differentiated, and are only accessed by appropriately trained workers.

The director advised medication records will clearly identify each participant and include details such as medication name, dosage, administration times, and instructions to support safe administration. The Medication Administration Chart will be used to record all administrations, with workers required to check and sign at each administration in line with the six rights of medication.

Golden Wattle Care Perth Pty Ltd ensures that only appropriately trained workers will support or administer medication. Evidence of Assist with Medication training was sighted in the director’s file. Workers will understand the purpose, effects, and potential side effects of medications, and will know how to respond to any medication-related incidents, including completing a Medication Incident/Error Report Form where required.

Access will be limited to trained workers to ensure safe handling. Where applicable, a Medication Care Plan and Consent Form will guide the support provided, ensuring participant consent and safe practice are maintained.
