What Is Innovative Community Participation Under the NDIS?

Innovative Community Participation falls under Capacity Building – Increased Social and Community Participation (Category 09) in your NDIS plan. Unlike standard community access (which funds a support worker to accompany you on routine outings), innovative participation focuses on building long-term personal resilience, social networks, and practical capabilities within mainstream community settings.

The goal is progressive independence. We work alongside you to trial new environments, develop social confidence, and build connections with community groups that continue to support you long after a worker steps back.

Our Innovative Participation Programs in Perth

We break away from rigid routines by designing unique, goal-driven participation pathways:

1

Mainstream Club & Group Integration

We support you to join local non-disability community spaces aligned with your interests—including local sports clubs, board gaming circles, community gardens, walking leagues, and maker spaces.

2

Community Volunteering & Civic Engagement

Volunteering offers purposeful structure, social networking, and workplace readiness. We help you explore opportunities with local Perth animal shelters, environmental groups, op-shops, or community food initiatives.

3

Creative & Specialist Workshops

Step outside typical recreational classes. We support participation in specialised workshops such as pottery studios, digital photography, music production, sound recording, or coding bootcamps.

4

Micro-Enterprise & Passion Projects

Turn a personal craft or passion into a rewarding project. We assist participants in testing small-scale community ventures—such as market stalls, craft selling, or community service projects—building budgeting and communication skills in the process.

5

Peer Mentoring & Social Skill Labs

Develop conversational fluency, non-verbal social navigation, and conflict-resolution strategies in low-pressure real-world environments.
